PRESS CONFERENCE

Wednesday April 1 2026 at 12:00
SFD Congress in Lyon – Room Rhône 3, Level 1

The PRÊT1D study, supported by the Francophone Foundation for Diabetes Research (FFRD), is pleased to invite you to its very first press conferene!

Detect earlier, act smarter against type 1 diabetes!

Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease affecting approximately 200,000 people in France, with an incidence increasing by 3 to 4% each year. Today, T1D is most often diagnosed in an emergency setting, even though it can be anticipated several years before symptoms appear. This early identification enables better management, improves prognosis, and provides access to innovative treatments capable of delaying the need for insulin therapy. Such early diagnosis is based on a simple blood test measuring autoantibodies.

The national PRÊT1D project aims to facilitate early screening among relatives of people living with type 1 diabetes through an innovative approach: at-home screening using self-collected capillary samples, a structured access and follow-up pathway supported by a digital health platform, and the generation of scientific data to document the clinical and health-economic value of this new care pathway. The ambition is clear: to transform a sudden emergency into a condition that can be anticipated and properly managed.
