The FFRD just finalised the awarding of its Research Grants for the year 2014 by backing 2 projects :

• 1 clinical research project

• 1 basic research project.

Last 17 November, 6 candidates were selected for an oral presentation before the FFRD Scientific Council.

After deliberations, the 2 recipients of the 2014 FFRD call for projects were:

• Dr. Hélène DUEZ, Inserm, from the Pasteur Institute in Lille, France, for her Basic Research project “Role of the Rev-erb-alpha nuclear receptor in the development of type 2 diabetes: implications of adipose tissue and skeletal muscle”
  
• Prof. Rémy BURCELIN, Inserm, from Rangueil Hospital in Toulouse, France, for his Translational Research project “Characterisation of the intestinal mucosal immune system in patients with abdominal obesity and type 2 diabetes: causal role of the corresponding microbiota”

The two recipients were also invited to participate in a press conference, organised by the FFRD, on the occasion of the Theme Day hosted by the SFD at the Marriott Hotel-Rive Gauche, Paris, last 12 December.

A new visual identity, the improvement of its new logo and the creation of an institutional brochure to promote research on diabetes and metabolic diseases and to support international large-scale francophone research programmes.
